Hi! Next year at school, I am taking AP Environmental Biology, and I was thinking of adding AP Human Geography. I have heard that both classes are easy, but I am also taking Honors Language arts and Geometry. Would that be too much. Also, what should I expect from each of these classes?

It depends on how much time it takes you to do honors work. If it takes you more than 15 minutes a night for honors work and get the grade you want then 2 AP courses may be quite a lot. The two exams are the easiest but that is because freshman take the exam and collegeboard craft their exams to get an ideal pass rate. So, they will seem okay but not easy for a freshman. If it takes you 15 minutes for honors courses and 30 minutes for AP courses then you should be fine.

Environmental biology is an AP? That’s news. HG is a joke as long as ur a good student.

You will be more than fine. As stated, HG is extremely easy and AP Environmental Biology ( I’m assuming you mean environmental science cause that’s not a class) is also said to be an easy workload.

It depends on what kind of student you are…I consider myself a very good student and I didn’t take an AP class until junior year…however, my school offers very few AP classes.

And the title should be “Are* 2 APs too* for an* incoming Freshman?”

I’m just kidding, I don’t really care…I just noticed you are taking honors English/L.A next year.

Thanks to everyone who posted! But I’m not so sure I will swap in, yesterday my APES teacher came and gave us a huge summer homework assignment, and said it only gets harder from here and this is the easy stuff… X_X and if that’s only a small workload, I might just take APHG sophomore year.

^ A lot of teachers do stuff like that. I’m never really sure if they’re serious or just trying to scare you.

Once you get used to the workload, it won’t feel as hard anymore. Also, from what I’ve noticed, summer assignments are usually more work than the actual class. That may just be me or my school though.

I remember when I took AP Chemistry they wanted to only have one class and they had too many kids trying to take the class. They said a lot of things to try to intimidate students like what you mentioned above to try to get some students to switch out. Most of what they said such as “7 hours of work a week” and things like that turned out to be untrue.

Kreig01, really? Well, that makes sense because my biology teacher (my middle school offers a hs biology course) said it was such a easy class that biology is easier. :-/ but what sorta worries me is the low pass rate of the class

Ugh I hit post to early X( but what I mean is so many people got 1’s and 2’s on the exam and if I take an AP I want a 5!!
but is the test super hard or just so many people think it is easy that the don’t prepare enough for it?

AP Environmental Science is not a hard course; the test scores are low because so many students are taking this test without the necessary background in biology and chemistry.

Skieurope, you need chemisty!!! I was told nothing about that!!! How much chem is in the class?? Sorry for all the questions, I am starting to get worried

How much you need chemistry is debatable. The College Board recommends it. My school does not have it as a prerequisite, but also limits it to juniors and seniors. I’m not saying you can’t do well on the AP Exam, just that statistically, a high percentage do get 1’s and 2’s.

Is chemistry used in the class? Or is it just nice to know it? /
I ask so many questions I should just start like 1000 new threads lol

At my school Biology and either Chemistry or Physics are requirements, but there’s a high pass rate for us
Of course Chemistry would definitely help, though.

@kitkat10111 it’s a very low amount of chemistry, you just need to understand some of the general concepts.

AP Human Geo is basically a fluff course to boost your GPA, so your load is pretty light.

That sucks that chemistry helps, even if its only a little bit. The whole reason I took this class was because at my school, chem isn’t allowed to be taken without a pass in geometry, which I haven’t taken yet, so I took this class as a filler class :-S
