I’m using a PR book to review for the APUSH Exam, and since I’m using my brother’s one (2006-2007) edition, I was wondering whether or not this will suffice, seeing that it is slightly outdated. Any thoughts?

It should suffice. The only thing that the 2009 version might have added is Obama’s election.

Your fine. The 2009 version shouldn’t have Obama’s election or even Bush’s election. If it does, it’s not going to be covered on the test, and it shouldn’t. Bush and Obama aren’t HISTORY, they are present. Something shouldn’t be instilled into a history course until EVERYTHING about that period in history is completely understood (this includes the after-effects of something. Obviously, we are not completely aware with what the after-effects of the Bush administration are. Even adding Clinton into the history curriculum is a bit of a stretch).

Well I don’t have PR, but the 2009 Crash Course book did have Obama’s election. On the other hand, we probably won’t be tested over it very much (nor would we be about most of Bush Jr.'s administration) so you shouldn’t worry. Besides, you were actually alive for it, so you can probably do okay on that section anyway. If you’re really concerned, get the (relatively inexpensive) Crash Course book and read the details about it.

For what it’s worth, I’m using an (older) AMSCO book that still has Clinton as president and a (really cheap, highlighted, written on, used) 2005 Kaplan book. The Crash Course book is the only 2009 book I have. And I feel fine because 99.99% of the information is in the first two books, and it’s not likely that the tiny chance of having a really modern history question is going to kill me if I know the rest of it, especially if I know a little of it by actually having been around to see it and also having a few notes from Crash Course and (my cursed textbook) The American Pageant. I think you also should be fine. Good luck :)
