Is 2240 a good sat score?

Hi, I’m a junior and I took the October SAT and got 2240. I’ve been thinking of applying to UCLA, UCSD, and (possibly) Stanford. Do you think I should retake the test?

That’s a very good score, even for Stanford. So only retake it if you think you can improve significantly (2300+)

It also depends on your score spreadout. If you have two strong sections and a somewhat weak section, it may be valuable to retake it to boost the lower score.

You’ve got a long way ahead of you. If I were you, retake so you won’t have ANY regrets later on because you know you’ve done your best. (don’t take it too many times, though. then it just looks bad!)

For stanford especially, I’d say just AIM for the highest score you can possibly achieve.

If it was your first time then you definitely should.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but is this score sufficient for any school?
800 M
730 CR
710 W

Do the math and critical reading sections still hold more weight than the writing score?

wow that’s really good
i m aiming for 2200
i keep getting lower than this damn

What the hell? It’s a great score!

It’s a sucky score.

Jk. People have srsly gotta stop posting these kinds of threads… it’s annoying. I mean, at least write something like, “Is 2150 good enough for XXX” on the title so most people can focus on assessing your score for a particular school and list each section’s score because even if you have 2240, some schools emphasize M more than others or put less weight on WR.

It all depends on your potential major. For example, if you’re going into engineering, your math score better be way up there. Also, I would highly recommend looking at what the middle 50% of accepted students got for each section for each school. Since you’re a junior, take the SAT in January! There’s even a better curve then :)

To anyone who has a 2200+: It’s a GREAT score. There, i’ve boosted your self esteem. Now PLEASE stop making these types of threads; it’s getting annoying…

There’s not much room for improvement, so I’d say no. Consider yourself lucky; it’s not even the 2nd semester of your JR year and you don’t have to worry about the SAT. Focus on grades, ECs, etc. to build on that 2240.

Yes, yes it is.

To be honest, anything above a 1500 is good. 2000+ is excellent. Do you know how many people will kill for at least a 1500?!
