Is 24 Community College Credits Possible?

Back story - I am attending a Michigan Community College… I was rejected to the University of Michigan for Fall 2016 with a 4.0 CC GPA, mostly because I only had 31 transferable credits (45 total)… I am now aiming to get an Associate’s in Mental Health and Social Work, while racking up as many transferable credits as possible. 55 transferable credits would give me junior standing, which would be awesome.

The issue with the Mental Health/Social Work is that its courses (10 credit hours/semester + 200 hours of internship) are not transferable… I’m currently planning on taking 21 credits for the fall and winter semesters, which would get me the Associate’s, as well as 53 transferable credits.

Here are my current 21 credits:

  1. Mental Health/Social Work (10 CH's) - Includes 200 hours of internship for the semester - Two classes per week (three hours each)
  2. Statistics (4 CH's) - One class
  3. Intro to Spanish (4 CH's) - Two classes (two hours each)
  4. Psychology - Survey of Exceptional Child (3 CH's) - One class

If I added 3 more CH’s (to get me to the point of 56 CH’s when I transfer), I would take an additional psychology class, most likely Psych of Organizational Behavior or Psych of Adjustment.

I have a couple part time jobs. One is only on Sunday’s and is very seasonal. One I make my own schedule for. And my primary part time job is driving school busses. Work 6am-9am, and 2-5pm, if I’m not in school. They are VERY flexible. It’s worth mention also that I hope to move out of my parent’s house in October.

I took 17 CH’s last semester and 4.0’d without struggle.

Do you believe 24 is do-able? Or am I crazy?

Thanks in advance!

You are crazy.

It is very important to do well…24 credits, internship, 2 jobs… too much.

Don’t do this. 24 credits would be almost undo-able even without working 2 jobs. You’ll either fry your brain from sheer exhaustion or end up dropping multiple classes, and you’'ll likely tank your GPA regardless.

I have a friend that did 24 and 1 job at a top tier university. So. Gl
