Simple question. I have 3.0
I’m applying to Top10 LACs of basically similar calibre of ivies. Well, they care more about grades.
I actually have no idea what 3.0 even means!! My school grade is like 86%.
Is this weak?

About 10 students in my class have higher than 90% at my school.

A 3.0 GPA is a B average with zero APs. So yeah, that’s not so great for top-rated liberal arts colleges or Ivies.

oh.
How about with 6 APs?

do you have a 33+act or 2200+ sat? Do you have an upward trend? Anything to explain for low grades? What was the validictorians GPA last year and how many Ap’s does your school offer? How big is your class? Depending on these answers your GPA will look a little better. We need more info.

People who get into top universities with 3.0 gpas probably have major hooks such as being recruited athletes or the offspring of multimillionaire donors.

Just check out the forums here for the colleges that you’re considering and look at who was admitted and denied earlier this year.

Make sure that you have some safety and match schools that your stats give you a good shot at.

A good way to see how you stack up is to pay the $15 or so to access until next Aug. the U.S. News premium college on-line site, which provides detailed info about the stats of students who were accepted at thousands of colleges.
