stop using ‘2’ to replace “two”, “too”, and “to” because it gets confusing. I would be surprised if fee waivers were granted for the reason that the applicant wants to apply to many colleges. O.O

To the above poster who mentioned Tufts, I would consider it a reach, they’ve been increasingly selective with admissions.

I definitely think the OP needs more safeties, especially because UF can be so focussed on SATs. Every year they reject people who are more than qualified in other areas because of lower SAT scores (not that they’re low, but I don’t think they’re high enough to make you a shoe-in). Perhaps add FSU and New College to your list of in-school safeties? There’s also Flagler and Rollins if you’re interested in a private in state school.

my biggest advice is to apply to as many schools as you can possibly afford. The admissions game is so random. I got into places I never would have thought (i.e., ones that I demonstrated no interest such as Rice) and I got denied at places where I thought I was getting into (i.e. Duke).

If it were me, I would apply to like 5-6 absolute reaches (like Penn, Columbia, Brown, Duke, and one more)

2-3 low reach/match such as Cornell and Gtown and Cal out of state, and perhaps throw in UVA

now for the important matches, add Univ of Michigan (apply early, its essentially an acceptance waiting for you). And if you do not get in, it pretty much means your fate at the rest is not good. (that is the unfortunate reality as Michigan admissions are largely a numbers game)

now for safeties, I would add Florida, Univ of Miami, and something like GW

i agree with columbiahopeful. i got accepted into penn lsm and stanford but waitlisted by columbia and…rejected by duke? its not really up to chance but statistically speaking, the more schools you apply to, the higher your chances are of getting into one of your reach schools.

" its not really up to chance but statistically speaking, the more schools you apply to, the higher your chances are of getting into one of your reach schools."
^^^^NOT TRUE!! All you have to do is take as look at TY results posts, or better yet, read the thread started by Andi-" what went wrong?" That will open you eyes. Applying to more reaches does not increase youe chances of acceptance.
