<p>Should I have more schools to apply to?
The 5 I’m considering are:
Washington
Oregon
Portland
gonzaga
And Boise state

<p>It depends.
Is at least one of them an admission and financial safety that you’d be happy to attend? Are the others within realistic reach for both admission and cost? If so, then 5 may be enough, as long as they provide the programs you want.</p>
<p>None Are financial safeties but I figure it’s OK because I’m going the jc route. I’m an oos student from Cali</p>
<p>Everyone, even you, needs a safety on their list that they know for dead certain they will be admitted, that they like, and that they know will be affordable for them without any aid other than federally determined (FAFSA) aid, and/or aid that is guaranteed by the state and/or aid that is guaranteed by the college/university itself. This doesn’t mean that the aid should cover all of the costs, but rather that the aid will make it possible when added to whatever the student has available from family resources and his/her own income and/or savings.</p>
<p>Sit down with your parents and whoever else is helping you pay for your education and find out what your budget limits are. Run the net price calculators at each of these universities’ websites. If none of them are financially safe, then you need to dig a bit deeper. If they are going to be affordable, well then, YAY! you have the money issue licked. You still need to do a bit more research to determine whether any are likely to be academically safe as well.</p>
<p>If the student is going the community college route, he won’t know whether or not they’re academic safeties for another two years (at least).</p>
<p>He also won’t know if they are financially safe until then either, but by running the numbers now, he will have a general notion of whether or not this plan is feasible.</p>
<p>Tyler, you need to wait at least a year or so to come up with your list. Then, after you see how you do at your CC, decide firmly on a major, and your mom tells you how much she can afford to pay, this is just spinning your wheels.</p>

<p>That is probably too low to afford any of those schools as a transfer student. That income is usually too low to contribute much/anything towards college costs. </p>
<p>You may qualify for full Pell, but that’s only about $5600 per year. Then you’d get a $7500 student loan (as a junior). So, with about $13,000 total, I don’t see how these schools would be affordable. Gonzaga and UPortland don’t meet need and don’t give great aid to transfer students.</p>
<p>Oregon and Washington don’t participate in WUE. Don’t know if Boise St does, but if it does, you won’t get instate rates, you’d get 150% of instate rate, which would still leave you with a substantial gap.</p>
<p>You need to go to a Calif school so you can get Cal Grants.</p>
