I literally cannot pay attention to anything that goes on in school and I rarely do my homework as well as I should (I’ve wondered if I have some sort of attention deficit disorder :(). So I learn ZERO in class until it’s time for a big test. Thus, I kind of have to study in order to make sure that I learn something. As a result, I always do really well on tests, much to my teacher’s dismay.

Well i believe that 5 hours for one test is absurd… It depends on the test and on the class, but for a difficult test, I use to study a max of 2 hours. The class that is most difficult for me is science, in that test I study about 2 hours or less and I get a high grade, but studying for one single test 5 hours, i will never handle it, I am not capable of staying in my room for 5 hours!! it is crazy. For the rest of the classes like math, spanish or english i ussually study about one hour or less depending on the topic of the exam.

It depends on the test you are going to take and how much attention you have payed in class. If you never pay attention and you are studying for a final exam you will need much more than 5 hours, but if you have payed attention you will need much less. For me, 5 hours of studying straight is too much and then all the studying wont work. It all depends on your way of thinking and understanding.

My oppinion is students can study for test about 5 hours.
You know what? korean students are how to study for test?
I think that korean test’s level is higher than western test, and korean test have a too many question. But, korean students can study for test about 11 subject just 5 hours.
therefore, students can study only 5 hours.
But, you have to know first.
You have to concentrate for study. it is too important.

I believe that this is a very open topic, because you forgot to state many things. I believe that the amount of study depends on your mental ability and memory and the amount of studying you have to do. If you have had a great understanding on the topic I believe that studying shouldn’t take more than an hour but if you dont feel safe you should study for a couple of hours. Nevertheless, if you study five hours I guarantee you will get a very good grade on your test.

who the hell are these people trying to impress by saying that they never study at all and are val or sal in their school. By saying this, am i supposed to assume that you are a genius?
Instead I come to two conclusions:

I never study, but I’m not close to Valedictorian so…;)

You’re probably right though, I was forced to read an article in English class about how IQ doesn’t necessarily always match up with school performance and such. It’s a complex topic that differs per subject per person, so you cannot just go “Oh no study, genius, ace, all = sex = life”.

Surprisingly, the more I meet geniuses, the more I read about them (again English ugh), I find out that geniuses aren’t necessarily the people who are Vals/Sals or the people who do the “best” in school. No point in this whole bs anyways.

Sorry, I have no idea what you just said. Basically, Koreans > “Westerns” in academics and level? Quite hilarious…

Wow. I honestly do not study and I honestly am salutatorian and I’m honestly NOT trying to impress anybody on here. My stats are nowhere NEAR that of some posters on here - as if I could impress them by “claiming” to not study?! I’m not try to impress you! It’s just… a fact. I don’t study. I stated that fact, and now I [and other non-studiers] get ridiculed for “trying to impress” you? W tf?

My classmates are not ■■■■■■■■ either. They’re not mindblowingly intelligent, but they’re “retardation” is not the reason that I’m sal. I’m sal because the VAL at our school studies a lot, does extra work, sucks up to the teachers, etc. That’s why I am only sal.

My non-studying stems from the fact that I actually PAY ATTENTION in class, and I do my homework [usually… lol. I do homework that I believe will benefit my knowledge and that I don’t think is completely useless], and I learn the information the first time I hear it [in class, or in the assigned reading]. Any “smart” person should be able to get away without studying. A “smart” person would pay attention in class and not have to mindlessly study study study the same information over and over again to learn it.
