Is 97.3 a good GPA entering high school?

I live in New York State, and so far in 8th grade I have taken Algebra 1, Earth Science, and Spanish 1, which are high school courses that count for my GPA. Final course average in Earth Science was 100, Spanish 99, and Algebra 93. This makes my GPA entering high school a 97.3. Is that good? And how bad is the 93 in algebra for applications to ivy league schools etc?

Way, way too early for this. You’re going to have so much time in high school to stress about GPA, test scores, ECs – don’t start now. A 93 is fine. Your classes are going to get much harder and you’ll get lower grades, and that’s fine.

But to answer your question: yes, a 97.3 is great.

They dont see anything you have ever done before highshool. Why do you even care?

^agreed. Most colleges don’t care what happens before ninth grade. In California, all they care about is the classes (not grades) you may have taken in middle school.

No college anywhere is going to be interested in anything before high school.

Even if the classes are factored into your HS GPA, you’re starting off with a very high A average. In no universe is that ever considered a bad thing!

I’m a rising HS senior.

Just like the other comments above, colleges usually don’t look at what goes on before high school and you’re already going in strong. A 97.3 avg. is really good.

-I would worry more about your HS GPA and standardized test scores as you go throughout high school. Also, make sure your courses are rigorous for the Ivy Leagues to consider.
-Also, make sure you have enough EC’s for the Ivy Leagues to even consider you as a potential candidate (join a sport, participate in at least 3 clubs, make NHS, etc.)

Hope this helps and good luck with high school!
