Let me know what you think.
If you are very low income you may get close to full need based aid at these schools. They all have some level of self help. They’d not offer merit based scholarships.
Go directly to to the source to see if they offer scholarships for their masters programs. For someone looking to do grad work this is some bottom line basic work to see how you can pay for an education at these schools. Most of the schools on your list only give need based FA, as undergrad have pretty consistent FA policies with their grad programs.
@NorthernMom61 these schools provide great need based aid to undergrads. Aid structure is very different at the grad level.
This student is looking it get a MS in engineering…I believe that would be a masters degree. Perhaps he can clarify.
Even these generous for undergrad schools, don’t have the same level of need based financial support for grad students. In other words a $0 EFC does not mean full funding will be forthcoming for grad studies.
Grad student aid is merit based and is based on the strength of your application, and the school’s desire to have you as a member of their grad cohort. It is not need based aid like in undergrad. Grad aid, even at these schools, comes in the form of assistantships, scholarships, grants, sometimes work study, and loans.
To get a totally free ride, this grad student would need to get a fully funded assistantship or fellowship…with a stipend.
I’m guessing these would be highly competitive at the grad level at these schools.
The OP is a high school senior. Before worrying about MS Engineering and medical school, he should be focusing on where he will be going to undergrad.
“My gpa is a 3.3 weighted with a 1950 SAT.”
At this point, you need to concentrate on getting accepted to an undergraduate school that is affordable for your family (including any aid that the school might offer).
In terms of your major, if you want to be an engineering major…you will be taking a LOT of math. Are you saying you will require a tutor to succeed at these classes?
You also wonder about a full ride to medical school. These are about as common as hen’s teeth.
Plus…to get accepted to medical school, you will need a great GPA, a great MCAT score…first and foremost.
It sounds like you need significant financial aid for undergrad. Is that correct? What will your parents really pay per year for you to attend? Find that out.
