I got a 1990

700 CR
660 M
630 W (8 essay)

Is there any hope for improvement for me? :O

The colleges I’m looking at are Georgia Tech, Cornell, Carnegie Mellon, etc. for Comp Sci.

I intend on retaking the SAT at least once more, not more than 4 times though. What is your suggestion?

Although I’m happy with my CR score, I’m a bit disappointed because on the Practice Tests, I usually make 720+ on the M and I felt REALLY good about the W on the SAT…

You probably did crappy on this sat due to the stupid prompt.

reality tv prompt? haha yeah i guess

that’s a fine score! and if you were doing well on the practice tests, that probably proves that you just didn’t have the best day. it’s a fine starting off point, and although you’ll want to bring it up a bit for some of your schools, there’s plenty of time to retake, and i think you can do a great job bringing your scores up. :)

Always room for improvement. I’d aim for a 2200 superscore, which I’m sure you can pull off in three sittings.

As it stands, for a prospective CS major, your CR score is fine. Ideally, you’d like that math score to sit around the mid-700s or higher, and you’ll need to boost that writing score to boost your aggregate. When it comes to the writing portion, try to focus more of your effort on the writing questions rather than the essay. Though some may argue, and while the essay is important, it doesn’t need to be that great; you can get a 720+ on writing with an 8 essay.

As for your school choices: The SCS at Carnegie is very competitive, and even with a high SAT score/GPA, you’re going to need strong ECs in a related area if you want a good shot at acceptance. The same goes for Cornell, though personally I think Carnegie’s SCS is a bit more competitive. As for Georgia Tech, if you can boost your Math/Writing scores, I’m sure you’ll have no problem getting accepted.
