So I found out that I got for the March 2011:

720 math
700 writing w/ 10 essay
580 CR ■■■

So…as you can see that the reading was carppy, to say the least (I don’t know why, but I ususally got ~650 on practice tets). Should I retake if I’m going to apply to Columbia, Brown, , Northwestern, Cornell University?

I think you should retake it, as I was in the same boat as you. I scored a 2080 (640CR/740M/700W) on my first try and was pretty disappointed, but studied another 2 months and retook for a 2300 (700CR/800M/800W). It’s definitely possible to get a much better score - just put your mind to it =)

They take the best sections you wrote over all of your tests. For example, if I got 800 CR/200M/200W, 200CR/800M/200W, and 200CR/200M/800W, the best sections would be the 800’s I scored in each section over my three attempts, thus, my superscore would be 2400.

If you check the threads in the schools you are thinking of applying to, you will find your current SAT scores will not be competitive. You may wish to either retake the SAT, take the ACT or take both.
Continue to focus on your GPA, and EC’s as well.
