Basically, I took the jan. 2013 SAT and got a 710 in both reading and math. I took it in october of 2012 and got a 780 in writing, so that’s a 2200 superscore. Should I retake? Will top schools see a 2200 as very different from a 2300? The problem is I don’t know if I could get any higher. I just don’t like testing ahhh. So what do you think? Thanks!!!

bump?!?! please :/

Since you got a superscored 2200, I would retake if I were you. However, your EC’s, essays, GPA, etc… are more important than the SAT I once you’re within the SAT I range of HYPS, so don’t worry too much if you have good credentials in the other areas of the application. You need to take SAT II’s as well for HYPS so consider that fact when you think about retaking the SAT I as you will have to use one of your remaining SAT testing date on the SAT II.

Best of luck.

yes. retake in the fall of your senior year.

I don’t think there is a need to retake. Don’t obsess. Put your energy into something else. If you want to get into these schools, that will be what is important. These schools don’t care about 2200 vs 2400. That won’t push your application over the edge to admit. It’s all the other things that will.

totally disagree ^^^ but only because the OP is talking about HYPS. 6% acceptance rate for Yale, as an example. A higher test score will not push you over the edge to admit, but a lower test score could be a reason not to admit when compared to a similiar candidate with higher scores.

You’re going to need at least a 2500 for those schools.
