Is a 28 ACT too low for Penn State UP?

I also have a 3.7 UW GPA and 4.2 W GPA

Upper half, at least.

@bodangles I just applied but I’m really scared right now.

I really wouldn’t be worried – your GPA is very good (2/3 of the decision) and your ACT is above the 50th percentile (part of the remaining 1/3 of the decision). Thanks to how they run admissions, you could hear next week or you could hear in January, so it might be best to try to distract yourself for a while. :stuck_out_tongue: I submitted a thing to a literary magazine in March, and by the time they got back to me in August, I’d totally forgotten about it. That made the wait much more pleasant than if I had been obsessively checking their website every day or whatever. You’ve done the best you can and now the ball’s in their court.

I wouldn’t worry. My daughter got in UP with a 3.5W and a 28 ACT. She did have to start in the summer but that’s because her GPA was lower. She’s a sophomore now. The wait was difficult so I agree with bodangles. Try to think of other things…easier said than done. My D also applied in early September but did not hear until the very end of January. So I’d assume you won’t hear until after Christmas (when the majority hear) and if you hear earlier then that is a bonus! Branch campuses usually hear earlier, but UP keeps people waiting a while…

@jlhpsu I just realized there was a typo on my personal statement, and my activities essay. Will that kill my chances?

Probably not. They see 50,000+ applications a year. The main part of their decision is GPA and then test scores. The rest is just gravy. I wouldn’t worry.
