I was fortunate enough to get accepted into UCLA for the fall of 2014. I wanted to major in business administration but since UCLA doesn’t have this, I went with Business economics. I know that this isn’t the same as business but with such a degree I could get a lot of jobs in the business world, then go for my MBA after i graduate from UCLA. However, the problem here is that apparently I would need a 3.3 GPA to get into the Business Economics major at UCLA. UCLA sounds like a very rigorous school academically so i’m wondering how hard it would be to gain that at UCLA. I got in with a 4.5 UC GPA. I’m good at school but i’m not too good at tests. I usually get mid to high B’s on tests and have pushed my grade to the next level through homework, classwork and projects. Except math and history, I’m excellent at those subjects. I am Horrible at English though and I’m scared that that plus my B average test scores will prevent me from getting a good GPA since college is mostly based on tests… what do you guys think?

I think for most students that gpa is achievable without too much stress. But only you can evaluate that situation you describe with tests. Tests do count for a lot in many college classes.

BrownParent, thank you very much for you response
