<p>If you’re a science major with junior or senior standing and a good enough GPA you can qualify for a (federal) SMART grant which is something like $1,333 per quarter. There may be similar grants for other majors (like foreign languages). Otherwise I don’t think you’ll automatically get any grants, but you would be a competitive applicant for any other scholarships you do apply for.</p>

<p>According to that, you still have to be eligible for Pell Grants, and be in your 3rd or 4th year, so I don’t believe standing matters. And the minimum GPA is 3.0.</p>
<p>No, UCLA gives it based on class standing. I’m a 2nd year and I’ve already maxed out the SMART grants I can receive.</p>
