Hi everyone
I’ll be a BioE: premed in Warren this coming fall.
Admit Day seems really interesting based on the agenda they posted (engineering facility tour + residential life!), but is it worth going? I’m 100% sure I’m going to UCSD, which means that I’ll definitely have to go down there once for orientation and again for welcome week. I’m in norcal, and driving for 6+ hours isn’t something I’m looking forward to. So I guess what I’m asking is… how harmful it is (if any) if I don’t go to admit day? Can orientation “make up” what I’d miss on admit day?

ohhh, off topic question: where can I find a list of courses (with description) that UCSD offers? I went to the online catalog, but I couldnt find specific courses (ie, what is MAE 10??)

Admit day is NOT worth it (i speak from experience). on the other hand, if you haven’t visited the campus yet, do that before you make your decision on where you want to go.

Admit day is totally worth it if you’re on the fence, and very much not worth it if you’re already committed.

By the way, MAE stands for Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering, so you’d be looking for [this page](Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering). Just so you know, I don’t think MAE 10 is offered or ever will be offered anymore, because everybody is moving away from FORTRAN and towards C++, so you’ll most likely be taking MAE 9.
