Is Advanced Topics in Math hard?

I will be finishing Alg 2 at the end of next school year and I’m contemplating on taking this class along with Pre-Calc and then taking AP Calc BC senior year. Is this a good idea? I don’t know the difficulty of this class and I would like some input from anyone who has taken this course or knows someone who has.

What topics does it cover? Depending on the school, this could be an introduction to college-level mathematics (e.g. basic number theory and combinatorics), or it could be a review of Algebra II (which probably isn’t necessary if you did well).

Assuming it’s the former: it doesn’t sound like a standard high school class, and it might introduce you to proofs, but my guess is that you’ll be fine if you have the prerequisites and are willing to study more than you might have in previous math classes.

At my school, advanced topics in mathematics is like a decelerated pre-calc. It’s for those students who don’t feel ready to take pre-calc or calculus, but need another math credit. If it’s anything like my school, then taking it concurrently with pre-calc would be redundant and pointless.
