i really want to write an essay similar to this. as you can see, this essay has no clear introduction and conclusion paragraphs. if i were to mimic the writer with my own story (supposedly relevant and focused), would i be likely to get so high a score?

This is a risky type of writing. She doesn’t follow the cliche intro,p,p,p,conc format and she doesn’t really have a clear thesis. In her case, it worked. Theres another essay like this in the blue book.

Writing like it can be very effective but if you don’t do it right or if your reader doesn’t “get it” then you are doomed for a pretty low score.

In my opinion, just play it safe and do the generic organization. If you write 2 pages with a clear thesis, and three examples you will almost surely get a double digit score. Sprinkle in some of your SAT vocab and a few transitions and such and you get 11 or 12.

Theres no reason to try to do something creative or clever like this for the SAT, but if you really want to you can try it just make sure you know what you’re doing and make sure everything you write is supporting the prompt.

what if i add an introduction and a conclusion? will it be totally safe?
