Is an UD college's rank a factor in admissions?

I’m a 27 year old college graduate (I took several years off during my UD experience) and am now studying for my December LSATs and am planning on applying early January.

I live in PA and am applying to local law schools, Villanova, Temple, Drexel, Penn-Dickinson, Rutgers-Camden, and Widener. I majored in Anthropology with a minor in Sociology. My only problem is that my official GPA is 2.58. I’ve got 24 transfer credits which aren’t showing up on my official transcript, but I plan on sending those transcripts as they should bump my GPA up a little bit (all As and Bs).

However I graduated from Oberlin College. While it isn’t ranked quite as highly as Swathmore or Amherst, it is a good college. My question is, is that going to make a lick of difference to the law school admissions? I mean in my mind (and obviously I’m biased) a 2.6 from Oberlin means a little more that a 2.6 at, say West Chester University. And I can vouch, having taken taken classes at West Chester and University of Delaware, that its a lot harder to get a good grade at Oberlin than it was at local universities.

Sorry but a 2.58 is not going to be considered much higher just because it is Oberlin. They give consideration to difficulty of school and more so major (e.g., they give some consideration to engineering majors who generally on average have lower GPAs than other majors) but it is not going to be some great boost. Your GPA is low for all the schools you list and thus you face an uphill battle. However, be aware that LSAT is the most important factor for admission (at many it really is 65% or higher of what is considered). Thus, a high LSAT can make up for a low GPA (and not vice versa). For example if you scored very high, like 170 or above, your chances at any of the schools you list would be good. Also, being older can help as many law schools will give a little more favorable view to someone who has been out of college and wroked a few years.

So as long as I get a good score getting into my choices shouldn’t be too much of an issue? Villanova might be a strech without a 170+ but I’m thinking the others, especially Widener and Drexel should be doable. Thanks.
