For some reason, I have been absolutely touched by the life, music, and death of Zach Sobiech. This young man found joy in every day, and looked at life as one beautiful moment after the other. Quite an inspiration to me to live life to the fullest.

I keep watching his “Last Days” video, and his music videos over and over.
(Yes, I did the same thing when ‘The Last Lecture’ by Randy Pausch came out.)

The sales of his music are supporting Osteosarcoma research. Remarkably, “Clouds” shot to number 1 on I-tunes last week, following his death at age 18.

So grab a box of tissues, search for “Clouds” by Zach Sobiech on youtube, and also look for “My Last Days, meet Zach Sobiech”.

Also, there is an album by his band ‘A Firm Handshake’ titled ‘Fix Me Up.’

Apologies if there is another thread for this already, I searched but didn’t see it.

It was a big story here in MN, so sad this good kid is gone. Bought Clouds for my Ipod and love it. Is this an original song or did he cover it?

Yes what an amazing young man. I first heard about Zach when a local radio station sponsored a benefit concert for him earlier this year; they have played Clouds pretty regularly since it came out. This page from the Children’s Cancer Research Fund website provides a little more background, as well as some of his videos.

I don’t know of him, but considering there’s a debate on the Parent’s Forum about parents paying for “useless” majors such as music, I think this story and the young man’s music proves my point that we NEED the arts and young people who major in them for the rest of us with no such talent.

Yes, he wrote ‘Clouds’. He and his co-writer and singing partner Samantha Brown wrote all of the the other songs on the ‘Fix Me Up’ album. I am hoping that he recorded more songs that may be released in the future, and I look forward to following the continuing singing career of Sammy.
