Is anyone here a LARC tutor?

How do you like it? Is it a fulfilling job? Was it very difficult to get the position? How is the pay rate/workload ratio?

I really appreciate the input - I enjoy tutoring and would love to know more about how it works at UCI.

Hi,

I figured I’d chime in for what it’s worth. Depends on what your motivation is and what you’re looking to do after UCI. Both UCI’s LARC and Peer tutoring are good experiences to have on any CV. I would highly recommend tutoring in some form. The benefits from the tutoring can be paid (LARC) or unpaid (Peer tutoring). Unpaid you would get two units of credit which are usually A’s.

I personally would recommend LARC. It’s a wonderful experience, however you do have to take a class that’s 4 units that meets once a week. It’s required to become a tutor. It’s not a heavy workload and I took it P/NP but you can also take it for a grade. You do have students that see you every other day. And I liked having the responsibility for someone elses learning.

I definitely would recommend tutoring, it helps to have something that helps you stand out.
