Is anyone watching April?

Phew! That makes sense and I’m relieved to know she has a nicer, bigger space when weather permits.

The link I went to said one had to pay $13 a month. Uh, not going there.

The links I’ve clicked are all free. Not much happening when I’ve checked out the link.

@bookworm The link I posted is definitely free.

She is making a lot more movement as well as lying down more and the Vet said she is very “needy”.
I just told my H that if she goes into labor I will be up until the end.
I have no idea why she has grabbed my attention but I am totally “in”.

I’m enjoying watching April and the eaglets more than TV!

I just saw the vet checking April. Things went pretty well until he touched the bottom of her belly and she responded with an “Excuse me!” motion.

^^ I saw that, too. I wonder if this is typical, or if it means we won’t be waiting for another week.

For some reason the live cam isn’t a live cam any longer. :-/

There is a video of an expectant giraffe on the verge of giving birth? And people are watching? Whaaa…

The dang live cam defaults from time to time and you need to just start again.
She so looked ready last night but all day today is just …nothing.
I understand that the vets think her time is “soon”. Whatever that means.

W2, yes there over a million watching, now for days, in the world and many! of our
own in Iraq. Evidentially this is a “thing”.

The feed up on the website is just an old replay. The youtube feed I’ve been watching is now down. I’m not seeing anything live at all.

ok–so on"April the giraffe" and then do the cam…is old? I do not think so. They have now turned the lights down
which makes the whole thing odd to watch, just more dramatic.
I have had this in the background all day of my theater, dinner and so on and what I see right now is
not a replay.

@oregon101 : I went on a field trip to a farm in perhaps the 5th grade, and the farmer thought having us witness the birth of a calf would be enlightening. I cannot relate to you the agonizing sounds of that cow, who was, I believe, forced to deliver for the benefit of the group of visiting school children. I am thrown back to such thoughts when I read of the pregnant giraffe.

I wish her well through her delivery.

@oregon101 I’m watching right now. It’s a 4 hour video and I can click on it from different points in time. It’s the official aprilthegiraffe.com website so I don’t know why it is showing me one thing and you another.

Gads it is down!!! within a couple of minutes!

My H feels the same W2. But he also agrees that the animals we see as children–in clean and decent enough
conditions are the way that the younger generations will preserve these animals.

I think that watching a cow scream would be quite the opposite. Sorry for that experience. And forced? How disturbing!

I highly doubt it was forced. I don’t think they gave it cow pitocin. I think you just happened to be there at the right time and the farmer thought it would be interesting to see.

Having grown up on and around farms, us country bumpkins are used to such things, circles of life and all. I think we take it for granted. Kind of grew up knowing about the birds and the bees and all that jazz.

April’s cam l is up again. But how would I know???
keep editing here as i did a search and Fox said that they are showing archived stuff.
Why? I have not seen the examinations and wondered if this is off live?

Again, I really believe we care about and protect what we experience. Dogs, cats etc. Now giraffe’s

The feed I’ve been watching is down. It’s showing a 4 hour replay. :frowning:

This one is working for me again after being down for awhile: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyQfWCX-bAg
