The October 15th EA deadline was a disaster, but Nov. 1st seems to have passed without too much bad press. What do you think?

I think it is exactly like most system upgrades or rollouts. The bugs are getting identified and either fixed or workarounds put in place.

The applicant experience is vastly improved over what it was 6 weeks ago, but recommenders are still facing difficulties. Many are submitting outside the online common app process.

Most schools moved their deadlines too.

I think common app has been able to solve some of the problems but most of them still seem to be outstanding. As niceday says, people are bypassing common app to meet deadlines. It’s not improved as much as being accepted as having issues that are apparently not solvable. If common app disagrees they should let us all know.

I think it is vastly improved. It was a complete disaster Columbus Day weekend, the w/e prior to the 10/15 deadlines. System frozen, inaccessible, etc. The same played out again last Monday evening from say 7pm-midnight/1am, and to a lesser extent, last weekend. The system definitely has trouble with the volume during peak evening hours when both East & West Coast students are on at same time.

Having said all of that, it worked well this weekend and a simple problem referred to Tech Support was resolved within four or five hours. (It was a problem unique to one university.)

Teacher and outside recommenders have not had troubles using system since late October but one who tried in early October struggled and required Tech Support intervention twice.

Essay paragraph break insertion required use of Text Edit but worked well.

Our problem is persisting. Common App did not acknowledge the problem for the longest time in a string of emails stretching. Now they have stopped responding altogether. Can only hope that they are working on it.
