Is applying to 12 colleges too much?

1) Harvard
2) Columbia
3) Manhattanville
4) Northeastern
5) BU
6) Hobart & William Smith
7) Georgetown
8) Vassar
9) University of Conn.
10) NYU
11) Hofstra
12)Yale

Only you can decide.

But your application list needs at least one safety that you know you will get into and you know you can afford, unless your safety is an open admission community college.

Can you see yourself attending all of them? How financially viable are they?

Those are things that you should keep in mind, but as the post above says, "only you can decide."

You have a lot of good schools on there, and without knowing your stats or other preferences it's hard to say. To me, it looks like you don't have enough safeties on the list ... may U Conn is if your stats are amazing and that is your state school, but you should be willing to go there as well.

Assuming that Manhattanville is the OP's admission safety that s/he can afford and is willing to attend, then no more are really necessary. If those aren't the case though...
