Is Art History as time consuming as APUSH?

My local library has Gardner’s Art throughout the Ages so I will be able to self-study AP Art History if I want to.

I have no prior knowledge of art history or painting techniques or anything like that. Still, I know I can do it but I don’t know if I would have the time to.

Do you think I should read through the whole book or just buy 2 or 3 prep books 2 months prior to the exam? Should I cram for this exam?
I heard Annotated Mona Lisa, Annotated Arch, REA are good.

Is AP Art History like another APUSH (currently taking with other APs) time wise?

About how many hours do you put into it a day?

I have extracurricular until 5pm 3 days a week. Homework takes at least 4 hours a night. Volunteering for half a day on Saturdays. Church & Church activities until 1 pm on Sundays.

Is it too late to start now?

Any advice would greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I’ll bump this since I’m doing the same thing.

Like you, I don’t have any prior experience, so I started out with The Annotated Mona Lisa. Don’t worry too much about the exam in the beginning; focus on getting down the information regarding the pieces. The Barrons book only has black & white, tiny images, and it’s more of a review a month or two before the exam.

I took the APUSH course, so Art History is definitely more time consuming. As for books…The Annotated Mona Lisa, as I already mentioned, is wonderful. I don’t have any experience with Gardner’s book, though. Good luck!
