Is Assist.org the Ultimatum authority in deciding which classes are need for transferring

<p>I applied as a Chicano studies major at UCLA. Assist stated that I only needed to take one class of Spanish. However UCLA’s website says that I need two semesters of Spanish in order for my application to just be considered. So now I am confused, especially since I will be using AP credit so fulfill the Spanish class mandated by Assist.org. Will my application to UCLA not even be reviewed for admission since I lack the two semesters of Spanish?</p>

<p>That ASSIST report indicates that 5th quarter or 4th semester level of college Spanish is required.</p>

<p>You may want to contact UCLA and the department about the meaning of the “two semesters / three quarters” statement, if you plan to take just one course at the 5th quarter or 4th semester level of college Spanish. If you are a native or heritage speaker of Spanish with proficiency greater than the 5th quarter or 4th semester level of college Spanish, you may want to ask if there are other ways of fulfilling that requirement.</p>

<p>UCLA’s AP credit list at <a href=“https://www.admissions.ucla.edu/Prospect/APCreditLS.htm”>https://www.admissions.ucla.edu/Prospect/APCreditLS.htm&lt;/a&gt; indicates that you need a score of 5 on the AP Spanish language test to be considered to have the equivalent of UCLA Spanish 5.</p>

<p>I think you have to complete at least the third quarter of Spanish (Spanish 3 for quarter system or Spanish 2 for semester one) at your college to be considered for admission. The standard requirement is completing Spanish 5 or equivalent. </p>

<p>Edit: As stated on UCLA website, there are some other ways around such as using your high school transcript if the primary language of instruction for at least one year at that school was Spanish. </p>
