Is Binghamton right for me...?

Hi all!

I have a 4.0 GPA, a sizeable extracurricular resume, and hopefully I will get involved in research soon. I would really like to go to a top Ivy or LAC but it’s very expensive; my parents have told me that they will struggle to pay $5,000/yr but I have a feeling that our EFC will end up being higher than that.

I am very “nerdy”; my close friends are all voracious readers and really into things like politics, philosophy, math, etc. I don’t think I plan on partying or drinking or anything like that in college. How well will I fit in at Binghamton, is there a substantial number of people there like me?

Thanks ^^

4.0, lots of extracurriculars, research, politics, philosophy, math- yes you’ll fit in just fine.

There are a lot of partiers and drinkers, but you won’t be alone. I’m not really into anything like that and neither are my friends. There’s a lot to be a part of, you just need to seek it out.

Have you visited? You need to sit in on some classes you are interested in and visit some Resource Rooms (sometimes they’re called Help Rooms) to chat with people in your intended major. Also pick out a couple of clubs that interest you to visit.

As you probably realize, you don’t need to feel comfortable with EVERYONE on campus. The question is whether you’ll be able to find a FEW people you feel comfortable with.

yeah from your stats i imagine it would fit you. it’s a nice school. and i agree with the person above
