Is Cal Poly worth cross-country travel?

Accepted with scholarship to Cal Poly for Computer Engineering. I realize that it is ranked well (at schools whose highest degree is a bachelors or masters. In fact, that is how we found it (see lists below). However, because it is not a National University it is difficult to compare to the other (East Coast) schools my S has been accepted to. Would it be silly to travel across the country to attend a CSU? From what I am reading on CC CSUs are considered to be inferior to UCs.

It’s a good engineering school, especially if you don’t plan on pursuing a postgraduate degree. They focus more on hands-on training rather than theory. If you are planning on getting a Master’s or Ph.D. in engineering, some might say you’d be better off at a UC.

P.S. Cal Poly is not a UC school, so technically this shouldn’t be in this thread.

is there a way to move (or remove) this thread if I posted it in the wrong place?
