Is CC Parent Cafe becoming boring?

Ahh, kinda miss the good old days of the sports scandals, drunken frat boys, etc. ;)

Maybe we have mellowed with kid#2 and the college experience…

I don’t really miss drunken frat boys, but I don’t think you are talking about the parties from back in the day.

I would have thought I would have been philosophically opposed to the smiley, but it turns out I’m not nearly as grumpy as I expected to be by this age. I have revised my opinion of my old age and have accepted that I will be much more cheerful with the young orderlies than I would have imagined in my 30’s.

It’s not boring because I still check in to the Cafe.

I have no business keeping College Confidential bookmarked because my only child graduated from college in 2008, moved out on her own and has been married for over a year.

I like the book, film and home improvement threads.

Schmaltz quote: *I am especially amazed by the threads in which the OP shares some heart-wrenching story (cat died, parent has cancer, kid’s classmates killed in accident, etc.), and most subsequent posters seem to be competing to express the most sympathy. I keep asking myself, “Don’t they realize that condolences from someone they’ve never even met are of negligible comfort?”

*

What? I was very soothed by the very kind words I received last year when my cat, Mittens died. It didn’t matter that I haven’t met most of these people in person.

maybe it a man/woman difference. men might not care about hearing offered condolences or hearing about others’ painful situations. But, women are wired differently, and we are wired to reach out and comfort. VIVE LA DIFF

I do think it’s slightly less entertaining since the politics forum got closed down. I miss it.

I played hooky from work today to take advantage of the green beer special at the bar down the road. 7 am - 10 am, 50 cents a pint. After working my way through all the bars on that stretch of road, I took a nap in my car. Later, I gorged myself on corned beef & cabbage and downed more green beer.

Not really … but did I spice things up at all?! ;)

^^Are you my son, the frat boy?

I’m so glad there are no visuals here. Although my imagination is kinda making me feel queasy! ;)

The gift of a water buffalo makes a lasting impression. Everyone on the thread before dawn gets a free water buffalo.

Woohoo! Free water buffalo!

I can’t be the only taker. C’mon, people! Get with the program!

Does the water buffalo come with an instruction manual?

Did a search on Google. Didn’t realize “water buffalo” might be a reference to something else…

Personally, I like to laugh with people, not at them…

Sometimes the gift of a water buffalo is just a gift of a water buffalo.

How did I miss this thread? You guys are having fun without me. :(

No, Deborah T. I’m talking about everyday, generic water buffalo although they become special when you name them and get to know them.

Offer extended through full moon tonight. Or is the full moon tomorrow night?

I think that maybe cottonwood has been hanging out with kelsmom, drinking pints of those green beers on the breakfast special.

Not that there’s anything wrong with that. I’m just jealous.

Tomorrow night is a Supermoon…the moon will appear larger.

Full moons on a Saturday are rowdy enough. But a supermoon, too? Yikes!

Alert! Someone has taken off with the slip 'n slide!
