I know there is no calculator that gives me 100% accuracte answers whether I will be accepted or not but for anyone who tried College Data, was it accurate for the most part?
I have a low gpa of 3.3 uw and sat score of 2100.
Took all honors and AP (8+) classes whenever possible and have lots of volunteer hours (150+) and leadership in orchestra.
Won statistics award, airforce award, and reserve grand champ in 9th grade for both school and county fair.
Founded the bio club, member of: volunteer club, nhs, green club (also secretary for green club)
Also going to start tennis again for the remaining 2 years. (I plan to hopefully play for a college)
Anyway, my scores aren’t a WOW applicant. Here are some of the schools i want to apply to
Berkeley
UCLA
USC
Emory
Carnegie
These schools are heavily interested in gpa, im sure. I tried out college data and all of them said in the upper half maybe.
Emory with an upperhalf maybe acceptance??!?!?!
If I can get into Emory Id be surprised because that is a school id apply for fun just because i need a reach.
Anyway, my point is, how accurate is College Data? Have you used it and has it been correct so far?
Thank you for your feedback!
If you want a second opinion you can always use the chance calculator that Parchment offers.
I’d like to chance you, but I’m not familiar enough with most of the schools to give a reasonably accurate guess. With a 3.3 uw GPA, Carnegie would likely be a big reach…
I don’t know what you’re looking at, but when I went on CollegeData it said that the average UW GPA at Berkely is 3.74 and Carnegie is 3.75. For that reason, I think you have a very low chance at these schools. However, your SAT may be a problem too. Try to get it a little closer to 2200. If those are all your ECs, you might have a problem there too. And I’m sorry to break it to you, but if you’re starting tennis for the last two years, chances are you’re probably not going to make the school’s team - people who play on the school’s team have usually been on varsity all 4 years of high school. But by all means you can still play intramural or club. But what I do admire about you is your rigor. You definitely challenged yourself academically. Hope you take the advice into consideration and sorry if it sounded like a downer - I was trying to be honest. But if you’re essay is outstanding and recs are amazing, there is ALWAYS a chance! Good luck!!!
Yea i was very confused and shocked! Beacuse of the low gpa i have no clue where im going to go and ive talked to my guidance counselor so many times about my gpa but my high school doesnt understand anything about colleges but only for state and colleges that are local that arent even ranked. Im desperate.
what can i do for the last year and half to increase my chances? Assuming a 3.3uw gpa and the 2100 cannot be changed.
Work on your essays. A lot. A good set of essays can be a huge boost to your application.
