Is DD ready for subject tests?

My eldest is a sophomore at an International school overseas which offers either the American diploma or the IB diploma. So the courses are regular subject courses or IB (IB courses are further divided into IB standard level courses or IB high level courses). They do not offer AP courses. IB courses leading to the IB diploma will begin junior year.

My question is whether my child is ready for SAT subject tests. based on many articles I have read many sophomore students in the USA take SAT subject tests especially towards end of year. but in our school they don’t begin subject tests before 11th grade.

Subjects completed so far are algebra1, Geometry, Algebra2/trig. World history 1 and 2, Integrated science 1 and 2 (integrated science contains physics, chem and biology). English for 9th grade and now taking English 10.

If DD ready for SAT subject tests which ones should she choose to take and when?

Thank you

Sounds like she may be able to do World History and Math I.

Your best bet would be to have her do to a practice test and see how she does. If she gets, say, 700, she’s in a good position to go through a review book, brush up, and score well. If the practice test score was, say, 400, it’s probably best to wait.

[Here’s a link to the World History SAT II page](<a href=“The SAT – SAT Suite | College Board”>The SAT – SAT Suite | College Board)—there are a series of practice questions on there that should be able to give her a gauge on where she’s at.

[Here’s the same for Math I](<a href=“The SAT – SAT Suite | College Board”>What were SAT Subject Tests? - College Board Blog).

I doubt that the Integrated Science course is sufficient to prepare for the physics, chem, or biology exams, unless it is an extensive and rigorous coverage of each.

Thank you for your advice!
