Our experience is very smooth with APs, and no one around here that I know of ever takes DEs. We are in NJ. I’ve heard of the occasional exceptional valedictorian of the Princeton High School taking very advanced math from Princeton with the hope of eventually matriculating into Princeton. But clearly this is not the category we are talking about here.
