I was at orientation the past three days and I originally wanted Dramatic Art 1 but it was all taken by the time I began to register. Instead, I went with Dramatic Art 5 (Understanding Performance: Appreciation of Modern Theatre, Dance, Film and Performance Art), which has very similar qualities as Dramatic Art 1, but now that I read the course description closely, it seems very time-consuming. And what is a “laboratory” in a drama course and a “tutorial”?

“Lecture/discussion2 hours; laboratory/discussion5 hours; tutorial1 hour. Relevance of theatre and performance to modern culture and society. Approaches to theatre/dance/media/performance art, integrated into Mondavi Centre for the Arts and Theatre and Dance Department programs. GE Credit: ArtHum, Div.I, II, III. (I, II, III.)”

I love theater, performance, the arts, etc. and I would love to study it in college to fulfill some credits, but it’s a 7 hour/week course and only fulfills Arts and Humanities and social-cultural credits. Is it worth it?

I’m planning to make some changes during Pass 2 after I do more research about the courses and the professors, even though my choices may be limited.
