Is FAMU that hard to get into?

This is so stressful! I fu**ed up my first two years of high school. I really regret it. I know someone who got accepted that was dumber than dumb (like that makes sense lol) Im just so nervous and scared. I wanna leave Louisiana for a while :/

According to their Admissions profile from 2012:

49 % Acceptance Rate

If you have over a 1540(all three sections) you will be in the top 25% percent of accepted students for the SAT.

If you have over a 22 on the ACT you will be in the top 25% of accepted students.

Has long as your GPA is over a 3.0 you should be fine.

Keep in mind FAMU only has an 11% 4 year graduation rate.

IF you fit this profile you can get accepted before your senior year:

Qualifications for consideration for Early Admission are:
3.0 GPA (as calculated by FAMU) after six semesters of high school
18 academic units required
SAT - Math - 460, Critical Reading - 460, Writing - 440 or
ACT Reading - 19, Math - 19, Combined English/Writing 18
A recommendation from the principal (or designated representative) is required.

Lol, if you aren’t black then you won’t get in.

What kind of grades and scores did you get?

What is your race? I don’t know if it’s legal to do this, but FAMU caters to its black applicants. I am from the area originally, and it is common knowledge that they only admit about 3 white and 3 hispanic students a year, just to keep from someone suing them saying they are racist.

They also are pretty tough to get into. My friend got her PhD from FAMU, and she’s super smart.

Well you obviously do not have to be black in order to gain acceptance since the enrollment statistics show about 1,000 students out of the 12,000 are not black.

I highly doubt it is that they only admit that small about stated by Brielle, but as a HBCU there are not going to be a alot of non blacks applying in the first place.

Basically if you are an average students(GPA and SAT) you will be admitted.

Although you would probably be better off investing your money at LSU.

HELL NO! i hate LSU! Now that’s one racist school! They only accept a hand full of black people. The football team has more black people on the team than the whole school does!!!

Haha i don’t know much about LSU but they do have around 3000 black students there according to stats and is a much better school than FAMU but still not that great academically.

What are you stats so far? Why do you want to go to FAMU?

You’ll get in. They accept everyone. However be forewarned, if you are serious about your school work, there are better places

I have a 870 on my SAT and a 3.3 GPA. Also, I am in the Aice Program. Do I have any chance of getting into Famu? I am a band/music student and am the band captain at my high school. I am also a early graduate. Please someone help me, I really want to go to this school. Like really bad! But I am extremely afraid that I won’t get admitted.
