<p>I want to take theater classes on the side but I don’t really want to take everything that is required for theater. but i know languages are more work…?</p>
<p>Both are hella hard.</p>
<p>My roommate is majoring in theatre, she puts in at least 6-10+ hours a week on top of her regular theatre courseload (reading, essays, etc.) to attend required plays and practice her scenes. And within the theatre major there are some classes where you have A LOT of reading (my roommate is still ordering a book like every other week) for one class and her readers are thick.</p>
<p>Another person I know is majoring in German and spends all her time reading incredibly dense German books in obviously German. It’s really reading intensive.</p>
<p>Both of them really love what they’re studying so they actual look forward to doing work, even if they have to pull frequent all-nighters, but if you’re not into either majors that much, it’s gonna hurt and it’s not going to be easy at all.</p>
<p>ETA: Oh, and I’m a pol sci major who takes a lot of history classes, and I would actually say sometimes the reading for Theatre (and definitely German) is comparable to what I read for pol sci and/or history classes, which at its best is about 70-100 pages a week (for one class) and at its worse is about 300 pages a week.</p>
<p>wow thank you! I’m really interested in german and the culture. but as far as theatre, i just like the acting part. I’ve taken a few acting classes already, so I wanted to just do those specific ones here at berkeley. but I think i’ll stick with the language then.</p>
