If even a respectable portion of students loved to learn, college students would not get antsy when lecture is about to end. Learning is hard since your brain has to remember lots of stuff, and then you just forget all of it.

Perhaps they love to learn but don’t feel so enthusiastic about being lectured at?

I love learning.

I hate school.

I love learning.

I hate the system by which I am forced to learn most things.

I prefer to study things by myself.

I prefer to study what I wish to study.

I cannot do this at school.

Therefore I hate school overall.

But, depending on the teacher, school may be slightly enjoyable. My AP History teacher was the best lecturer. I loved her class even though it was hard as hell.

On the other hand, my DE Gov teacher does the most boring lectures ever. I can’t wait to be out of his class every session. I don’t particularly hate Government, but his teaching…ehh…

So it just depends. I do love to learn. I just generally dislike the way I’m forced to learn.

kind of a more extreme position, but hey, we need extremes sometimes…

if you love to learn then dont go to college. just buy books and read, memorize, know, learn. why spend loads of money?

To answer your question, yes it is BS because no one who “loves to learn” does this, yet it seems the most effective and efficient (and practical) path.

Because if you go to a law firm and tell them you self-studied for 7 years, you will not get a job. People who love to learn learn on their own, and practical people who love to learn go to college :)

I think ‘I love to learn’ is a bit of a blanket statement and I don’t really like when people say it just to look like a good student. I do think most students like learning new things, and that’s what college is all about. Or they like learning more in certain areas. For example, I love learning more about my major (urban planning). But I hate having to learn more about math, but it’s a necessary evil.

omg so interesting
