I do aspire to be an interior designer. I watch shows, photos on Instagram and Facebook, and etc. I know that this is what I want to do. Conducting research on the internet, I find that Interior Designers make about $65,000 a year, or around that range. I don’t know if that is enough because my family makes about one-fifth about that amount. So is the Interior Design industry increasing? Will salaries raised even more?

My D has done quite a bit of research on this topic. Based on information she’s gotten from Pratt graduates, you can expect to make about $40,000 to start with a BFA in NYC, $50,000 if you’re starting with an MFA. This is if you’re working for a design firm that does residential, corporate, healthcare, etc. I imagine if you’re looking to just be a decorator, you could make a lot more–assuming you could find extremely wealthy people to hire you, which would be a long shot.
