I was just wondering, cuz I applied to several colleges, and while some of them communicated with me a lot via email, some others did not even asked me for some missing materials. I got interviews with some colleges, and one school even asked me for additional FA materials like 5 days before the notification date. Some colleges sent Christmas e-cards not only to me, but to my parents as well, while some other schools said nothing even though there was a problem with their fax machine and they did not get some of my required FA materials at all!..
Is it bad if school sends the information about the online portal activation and stuff, and then falls silent? Or am I just overthinking it? What can you tell from your own experience?

Most of the school my D applied has no communication between the confirmation e-mail and admission notice. Don’t worry about it. Just make sure your application is completed.

It is good for you to log in to the college portals as that can show interest to those colleges that track those things. How a college communicates with you is just a factor of the marketing.

You’re overthinking it.College administrators are not all cut from the same mold. Some aggressively work to recruit students, others are happy with what they already have. If anything the danger is reading positive signs into communication from colleges. Typically it just means they’ve hired a college marketing agency to work on their behalf and is not an expression of any interest by the adcoms.
