So I am in a “possible” dilemma here.
I’m a journalism student at a local community college in NY. I am currently interning this fall 2015 and secured another internship at a local Pulitzer prize-winning newspaper for spring 2016.
I am currently applying for an internship for summer 2016 at newspaper A in upstate New York and newspaper B in NYC. I would like to go upstate during the summer to work with newspaper A because I won’t be taking any classes plus its a bigger paper. I am yet to hear back from newspaper A but I’m having an interview with newspaper B in a couple of weeks. I might have to accept the internship before I hear back from newspaper A.
Should I eventually hear back from A after accepting an offer from B, is it advisable to defer internship B to fall 2016. Do I tell them to give me time before I accept the offer? If not how should I go about it.

Hear the results from newspaper B first. I think deferring their offer won’t hurt since newspaper A is a bigger papaer there are bigger credits there. Just do your best in both and keep on communication with them no matter what your decision is.
I think it’s not advisable to defer internships. They’d probably think of you as someone not taking things seriously if you do that. But I don’t really know I’m just a HS senior 
It is possible the internship program will change or the economic situation of the hiring company could. An internship offer can be withdrawn or disappear. You can’t count on being able to defer, or having the internship waiting even if they initially say yes. Contact paper A to express your continued interest and try to find out when they will be deciding. If B makes an offer, ask for a few days to decide. But ultimately you may have to decide before you have both offers in hand.

I’m so sorry guys. Yes, I have actually been very busy with school and work fulltime and an internship but no doubt, I could have checked back. I really appreciated the advice you guys gave me.
UPDATE:
So I went in for the summer internship interview with newspaper B and they wanted me right away. In fact, they wanted me to start right away but unfortunately, I’m currently interning somewhere and have an internship lined up for next spring semester. I told them I was also interviewing with other companies and that I’ll keep them in the loop about my decision.
After the interview, I got in contact with newspaper A upstate New York and they said selection notifcation won’t go out to candidates till February 2016 gasp. So I might have to wait this one out. It’d suck if I don’t get chosen by paper A and paper B dumps me for taking my sweet time.
