Is it bad if I take AP Physics I but not take the exam?

Hello! I’m currently taking AP Physics 1 online outside of school, however I’m not sure if I can get through the entire course by the AP exam. I want to apply to science programs like Garcia and RSI next year (DEFINITELY not saying I’ll get in, but to apply and see what happens), but I’m not sure how much it would harm my application if I don’t take the exam but still end up with an A in the class (pretty sure I can end up with an A since it’s an easy class for me). I also have 5 other exams to study for, so

Thanks!!!

If you are not bound by a completion date, take the final later. Not taking the exam will leave something hanging that you would have to account for. Besides, it will probably useful and informative to you as a means of assuring your competency and having better information about what information is considered most important. Just take the test and finish all components.

By the way, the word bad suggests some judgement about you could be made on whether or not you take the final. Not taking the test is impractical because finals are part of a class. Either way, you mastered physics on line. Good for you!

Thanks for responding @zannah !

I’m definitely going to take the class final exam because it’s a requirement, but I’m wondering about the AP exam taking place in May – so by “exam” I was trying to refer to the AP exam. Sorry for the confusion! (I’ll be more clear next time)
