I moved to the state about 2 days before freshmen year started so I never got to take the placement test, and because of that I’ve been one year behind.

Most seniors who plan to apply to elite and non ivy universities are in AP Calc this year, but I’m in pre calc

Will this hurt my chances of getting into UW-Madison or Ohio State? (live in WI)
Rest of my criteria is good: 3.7 gpa uw, 28 ACT, 5 AP’s, good ec

As mentioned, it might weaken your chances a little, but it is the average math class for a senior, so you’re not terribly behind your peers or anything. If you have solid ECs and test scores, good grades in advanced courses, and good recs and essays, I would think you would be alright. (If you really wanted, you could probably mention the placement mix-up, though this might be construed as an excuse…?)
