Is it better...?

I thought this thread should be for things you need advice about and can’t decide on. So my questions are is it better to have a Kindle instead of buying new books every quarter? I’m an EE major btw. Also, is it better to have a bike on campus or use the shuttle?

Most people just walk. If you really want to use one of those, then I’d say get a bike since shuttle stops aren’t necessarily in convenient places.

I have a Kindle, buy the books, and have Google books. It’s redundant but the thing is, some of the e-books are available only on Kindle, and some are available only on Google books. I like to have the electronic ones to pull up for class and discussions on my netbook so I don’t have to lug books around campus. Also it’s awesome to be able to do a search to find the terms the TA or prof is asking about. But at home I like to highlight the physical books and flip to sections and hold them open to type quotes for papers. If I had to pick just one of the three I don’t know which I’d pick.

not having to carry your books is awesome if you take them to campus every day (like i did) so kindles are pretty cool. you might need an OCR to convert PDF files to kindle’s format if the PDFs are merely scans of books, but that shouldn’t take too long. However, it’s kind of a CPU intensive task, so keep that in mind.
