I’m thinking about rushing at the University of Central Oklahoma next year, and was wondering if would be a lot easier than larger universities like OU or OSU. Also, would it be better to apply this summer, and how does this process work?

I go to a super small university that only java two Panhellenic sororities. It’s a bit harder to get a bid because there are only two sororities that can give you a bid. A lot of people don’t get any bids or only get invited back to one party. My friends that go to a bigger university tells me about their sororities and they have 7 which ensures almost everyone gets a bid from at least one.

I can’t say for sure, but I don’t know why it would be dramatically easier unless for some reason there’s also a small amount of people interested in rushing. At large universities there’s often a large amount of chapters (mine has 18), with fairly large pledge classes (up or 50 girls or more). At a smaller university there’s likely fewer chapters and also smaller pledge classes.

There may be other aspects about the process that make it easier (being more memorable to a chapter since they see less people total for example), but overall I wouldn’t assume one is easier than the other.

I’m a freshman at OSU and although I didn’t rush, most of my friends did. According to them, nearly every girl received a bid at the end of rush week. In my hometown, we have a smaller university with only two sororities…it seems to be much harder to receive a bid from there as there are only two options and many girls rushing.
