<p>You can’t apply to any specific program at Stanford. You get accepted to the university, not into any program or major. You don’t have to declare a major till the end of your sophomore year (and you can always change it).</p>

<p>There are schools where you have to apply for a specific major, and some majors are more competitive then oters. But not at Stanford.</p>

<p>I don’t know what school it would be easier to get into the Engineering program though. Perhaps if you were an extremely numbers strong applicant but didn’t have much in terms of extra curriculars. I doubt it, however.</p>
