So, I’m interesting in Petroleum Engineering right now, but I am still curious about the job market for this major. There is couple question in my mind:

Is it easy to get the job right after graduate? How long?
-What is the average mean for the annual salary for this field?

Anyone is in this field or have friends or parent of this related field person, please give me some clue!!
Thank you very much!!!

This exact moment it isn’t too hard to find employment in oil and gas. But that could change tomorrow (especially given the price of oil), next month, next year or next decade. Forecasting a job market is pretty tricky.

Average starting salary right now is probably between 80k-100k a year.

Jobs are becoming harder and harder to obtain as more and more people try to get into the industry. Companies are really looking for a balance between experience (internships) and a decent overall GPA. ( 2.9+)
