is it ever good to explain standardized test scores?

i got a 660 on my french w/listening but Weeks after I had already registered, my French teacher announced that she was going to China for the two weeks before the test date. I feel this affected my listening subscore (57/80)–I tried listening to some CDs, but they’re never the same–as I had not listened to French for 2 weeks. However, my reading subscore was a 71/80.

should i explain it in the additional info section? i have 4 SAT 2 scores-3 of which are 720 or higher

It doesn’t seem worthy of mention.

I think using the additional info section for test scores would be for really extenuating circumstances.

Your French Sat 2 test score is what it is. Trying to explain it = whining. Your other Sat 2 scores are fine!

I don’t think these tests are meant to measure what you learned in the last 2 weeks.

You can explain why you did not retake the exam without the listening portion in November/December?

Interestingly, you could get language
credit at most IVYs with the score you have (you might want to check this)

:)
