Is it feasible to take online classes AND do an internship during the summer?

I changed my major from chemistry to physics. Essentially the situation is that I need to take calc II before the fall 2015 semester and that I need to take calc III and differential equations before the fall 2016 semester. I just don’t have room in my schedule this spring to fit in calc II, so I will need to take it over the summer. In the fall I might not have room to take calc III but I will have room next spring to take differential equations. So my plan was to see if I can take calc II and then III in sequence over the summer.

However… I’m nearing the end of my undergraduate career, so I really need to start some research. After all, that’s what I think I want to do. If I don’t get experience with it I can’t confirm that it’s what I want to do. I need the experience to get into grad programs anyway. I’ve already seen several REUs and SURF programs out there for this summer that would be PERFECT.

…But I’m concerned that I won’t be able to do an internship and the classes. I’m assuming I can’t do both, but I’m just curious if anyone has ever successfully done it?

The reason I need to have these classes in at the times I specified is because I need to take quantum mechanics fall 2016 and spring 2017. It’s only offered at my school every other year so if I don’t take it then I would have to wait 2 years to take it again… No chance.

Any advice would be much appreciared.

I think so.

The internship won’t take much of your time.

In my experience, after you leave work, you have the entire day free.

You will be completely fine. During my internship (power engineering), I worked with the R&D engineers, and I still felt like I could take 8 units on top of all that.
