is it hard for international MFEs to find jobs in the US?

as the website of california berkley says: it is hard for an international MFE to get a job.
is it really like this???

Sort of kind of. Even if you DO get picked up by a financial firm, you still have to apply for an H1B…for which there is a ridiculously low cap…the cap was filled by the end of the second DAY they took applications. It’s ridiculous. 200,000 H1B applicants last year, 65,000 granted+20,000 for advanced degrees. It’s expected that the same number of people will apply when the backlog hasn’t even been filled yet. Seriously, they should throw the illegal aliens out and raise the H1B cap. Then you’re tied to that one job until you get your greencard, which could take anywhere between 4-15 years.

" Seriously, they should throw the illegal aliens out and raise the H1B cap."

Who would mow my lawn and who would run red lights and crash into my car then?

That’s not my problem. Get a 14 year old next door to do it. I don’t know, you’re smart, figure it out.

I think someone missed the sarcasm in that one.

FutureNYUStudent aren’t you a first generation Asian-American? Who are you to be criticizing immigrants?

Going back: Even if your some white American with a last name like Smith who can trace his ancestry to the Revolution - your still an immigrant. While I personally do not support illegal immigration, saying “throw them out of the country” is a little beyond cultural insensitivity.

Consider what your saying. As far as I’m concerned, unlimited H1B visas = outsourcing in America. The value of American IT=done. The Value of most American jobs=done. Even as a supporter of conservative economics I think unlimited H1B visas would lead to a implosion of the American economy.

I didn’t say unlimited. I said raise the cap, not eliminate it. And yes, I’m a first generation asian-american, but I’m a LEGAL immigrant. I’m criticizing ILLEGAL immigration. Frankly, why should I get the shaft over someone who snuck across the border just because I asked for permission to come into the USA at Kennedy Airport (my airport of entry the very first time I came here) rather than landing at Montreal and sneaking across the NYS/Canada border?

I’m ****ed that I’m getting shafted because I followed the law.
