Is It Hard To Be Walkin for SAT?

Cousin’s daughter’s school has been shut down for remainder of term due to NH floods and she was set to take several SATIIs on June 3. All test sites in her home State are full. How hard is it to get a space if you just walkin? They say she will be given priority over unregistered walkins, but she’s frantic, Anyone done this?

D did her SAT IIs as a walk-in because hers was site cancelled due to weather. It seems that the schools always seem to have a few extra exams. Make sure that you contact the college board so that the extra fees are waived.

Just make sure that you get there early because the high school will take students on a first come first serve basis and most likely there will be other students doing the same thing.

When my son had to retake any SAT II as a walk in, he contacted the SAT coordinator at the school. She counted the exams and registrations, and was able to tell him that it looked likely for him if he arrived early. I would suggest that you do the same - they might at least have some idea.

Before S did a walk-in last fall, I had asked other CC parents about odds, and all said their kids had no probs getting in. My S got in with no prob either. The only prob was that he was taking 3 SAT IIs, and due to the uncertainty about whether he’d get in, he hadn’t bothered to study that much for them, so didn’t do as well as he should have.

Make sure to check the instructions for walk-ins on the CB site. They tell you exactly what to bring.
